E-Book (Electonic Book) คือ หนังสือที่สร้างขึ้นในรูปแบบดิจิตอล โดย ใช้โปรแกรมคอมพิวเตอร์ และเปิดอ่านผ่านทางเครื่องคอมพิวตอร์ โทรศัพท์ สมาร์ทโฟน หรือแท็ปเล็ต ทั้งในระบบออนไลน์และออฟไลน์ จุดเด่น ของ E-book คือสามารถมีปฏิสัมพันธ์โต้ตอบกับผู้อ่านได้ และสามารถ แทรกภาพเคลื่อนไหว วีดีโอ หรือเสียงได้ รวมไปถึงสามารถปรับเปลี่ยน การออกแบบให้เหมาะสมขนาดของอุปกรณ์ที่ใช้เปิดอ่านได้ รูปแบบที่เป็นที่นิยมของ E-book ปัจจุบันมี 2 ประเภท คือ PDF (Portable Digital Format) และ ePub (Electronic Publication) โดยโปรแกรมที่ใช้ออกแบบ E-Book นั้นมีหลายโปรแกรมให้เลือกใช้ ในที่นี้จะกล่าวถึงโปรแกรม Adobe InDesign ซึ่งโปรแกรม Adobe InDesign เป็นโปรแกรมที่ใช้ในการสร้างสื่อสิ่งพิมพ์ และได้รับความนิยมมากที่สุดในปัจจุบัน เราจะใช้ในการออกแบบงานด้านสื่อสิ่งพิมพ์ จุดเด่นของโปรแกรม Indesign คือสามารถทำงานด้านการจัดหน้ากระดาษได้เป็นอย่างดี ซึ่งคล้ายๆกับการนำเอาโปรแกรม Pagemaker มารวมกับโปรแกรม Illustrator

องค์ประกอบ InDesign ประกอบด้วย

                   แถบคอนโทรพาแนล  (Control Panel) เป็นแถบตัวเลือกสำหรับการกำหนดค่าต่างๆ ของวัตถุ เพื่ออำนวย ความสะดวกแก่ผู้ใช้ โดยจะปรับเปลี่ยนตัวเลือกไปตาม การใช้งาน ระหว่างวัตถุและการทำงานกับข้อความ ให้สามารถกำหนดค่า สี ขนาด ตำแหน่ง และคุณสมบัติต่างๆ ของวัตถุและรูปแบบของข้อความที่เลือก ได้ง่ายขึ้น

                    กล่องเครื่องมือ  (Tools box) กล่องเครื่องมือรวบรวมเครื่องมือสำหรับ ปรับแต่งและแก้ไขวัตถุ ซึ่ง มีไอคอนให้เลือกได้อย่างง่ายและรวดเร็ว โดยกลุ่มเครื่องมือจะแบ่งเป็น ดังนี้

1.      กลุ่มคำสั่ง Selection tools เกี่ยวกับการเลือกวัตถุ

2.      กลุ่มคำสั่ง Drawing and Type tools เกี่ยวกับการวาดภาพ และใส่ตัวอักษร

3.      กลุ่มคำสั่งพิเศษ Transformation tools เกี่ยวกับการปรับแต่งภาพ

4.      กลุ่มคำสั่ง Modification and Navigation tools เกี่ยวกับการดูภาพ และปรับมุมมอง

5.      กลุ่มคำสั่งในการเลือกสีในชิ้นงานและเส้นขอบของชิ้นงาน

6.      กลุ่มคำสั่งที่เกี่ยวกับการแสดงหน้าจอของ InDesign

การใช้งาน InDesign เบื้องต้น

  •       การสร้างไฟล์งานใหม่ทำได้ 2 รูปแบบ แบบที่ 1 การสร้างโดยกำหนดค่าเอง แบบที่ 2 การสร้างโดยเลือกจาก templates สำคัญที่สุดก่อนจะเริ่มงาน ต้องรู้ว่าจะนำงานไปใช้ในรูปแบบใด
  •       การสร้าง Text Frame สามารถทำได้หลายวิธีโดย ใช้เครื่องมือ type tool แล้วพิมพ์ข้อความตามที่ต้องการ หรือสามารถ place ข้อความจากไฟล์ MS Word .doc ได้ สำหรับนำเข้าข้อความที่มีปริมาณมาก ๆ 
  •       การย้ายตำแหน่งของรูปภาพ ให้สังเกตสีกรอบของภาพ ตอนที่ทำการเลือก ถ้ากรอบสีฟ้าแสดงว่าเป็นการเลือกทั้ง object แต่ถ้ากรอบสีน้ำตาล เป็นการเลือกเฉพาะรูปภาพ แต่ตำแหน่งเฟรมของภาพยังอยู่ที่เดิม
  •       การจัดการเนื้อหาThreading Text frame หากมีข้อความยาวๆเกิน frame จะสังเกตได้จากกล่องเล็กๆล่าง ขวามือ จะมีเครื่องหมาย + สีแดง แสดงว่าข้อความล้นจาก frame เราสามารถสร้าง กล่องข้อความต่อเนื่องจากกล่องเดิมได้ เรียก ฟังก์ชันการทำงานนี้ว่า Threading text box โดยใช้ selection tool คลิกที่เครื่องหมาย + แล้วลากไปยังอีก frame ที่ต้องข้อความต่อเนื่องกัน
